Mazut is a Warsaw duo founded by Paweł Starzec and Michał Turowski. Mazut is an action on the borderline of lo-fi acid techno, industrial and broadly understood noise. Mazut is the aesthetization of violence. Mazut is dirty, simple and primitive music. Mazut puts on white shirts to look elegant on the stage, because despite years of therapy, they have not yet learned to love themselves and polish the diamond of their own self-esteem. The white shirt acts as a forming object, adding charisma, style, faith in one's own skills. Macio Moretti, on the other hand, did not wear the white shirt even when receiving the Paszport Polityki award. He always looks good and always plays well. I guess - because there are so many projects he is involved in, that there is not a single person who could see even one tenth of his performances - but we want to believe that he always plays well because firstly he is our good friend and secondly he plays with us. From the "Starzy Singers" cassette hometaped from a friend by the collaboration album, which no one will tape from a friend because it is fifteen or twenty years later than it was, to the stage debut as a trio based on Mazut's own humming and buzzing sounds and outstanding skills of Engineer Morecki. That is how the project called MAZUTTI was created.
Both on their debut album as well as during the upcoming live performances, the musicians decided to leave dance and entertainment music with which they are primarily associated and penetrate the areas of widely understood experimental art. The result of the search is an explosive and uncompromising mix, combining their mutual fascination with both the achievements of Jerzy Milian and compositions by Krzysztof Knittel, filtered by the sensitivity of the Chicago school and the achievements of the Cologne scene (please note that all of this might or might not be true).
